Rollag Norway
Today we went to Rollag and not Rollag Minnesota. Rollag Norway small town in the mountain valley with a population of about 1,400. Jared does alot of family research and there is a Stave church in Rollag that some of his ancestors were baptized and married in. It was very beautiful country that we had to drive through and it reminded me of driving through Glacier and Yellowstone Park. As we were driving we came to a tunnel and Jared says oh this is a long tunnel to which I reply " how do u know"? He said the sign said 3,8 km which is about 2 miles! What? There is alot of tunnels in Norway and all of the ones we have gone through so far have had fans on the top which we assumed was for air flow. As we started driving through the 2 mile tunnel we noticed no fans and the air felt very stale and dusty. We did make it through the tunnel but not going to lie I got a little nervous after I found out it was over 2 miles long 2.3 to be exact. We made our way to Rollag and found a building that said Rollag Kommune and went inside to get information. We found a lady she helped us but spoke little English but was able to help us. We headed off to see the Stave church which was a couple miles down the road. The church is around 800 years old but has been revamped in the years. We were not able to get in but peeked in the windows and were able to get a small glimpse of the inside. After that we stopped at another church up the road and a little Kafe and had coffe and a treat. It was then time to head back to the big city but first we made a pitstop back in Rollag to send a postcard to Jared's parents. Tomorrow we are headed on the Bergen railway to Flåm for 2 nights.
