Today we checked out of our hotel and took the Bergen Railway to Flåm. We had to return our rental car to the central station where we got on the train. Let me tell ya that was not an easy task! We made it got honked at a few times, drove in the bus and taxi lane but made it in time. We gave ourselves plenty of extra time in case we got lost like we did. There was construction going on by central station so it made it more difficult with roads closed. We arrived about an hour before our departure and grab a coffee and regrouped. We asked a guy what we were supposed to do and he told us just get on the train and find a seat. I guess I have never rode on the train but I was expecting to be searched and checked like u do for a plane. Nope! Just get on find your seat and they check your ticket when you get off. I guess they are trustworthy in these parts. À gentleman did come and check our tickets and Id's and we were good to go. The train ride was about 5 hours to Myrdal.Once we arrived at Myrdal we waited to hop on the Flåm Railway which is one of the steepest railway lines on normal gauge with nearly 80% on a 55% grade! The scenery was beautiful and and abundant with green plush and fast flowing waterfalls. The train drove pretty slow so u could take pics and also had windows that opened. We stopped at a waterfall called Kjosfossen and which had a free fall of 305 feet. It was very beautiful and misty. As we were standing there I noticed music playing off to the right and then noticed a girl dancing up on the mountain in a red dress. I am not sure what that was all about but reminds me of something out of a scary movie! We hopped back on the Flåmsbana and waited to arrive in Flåm. This place is something u see in a storybook. It is unbelievable how beautiful this area is with gigantic plush green and snow capped mountains. Our hotel is called Flåm Marina which is right on the water and has the best view in town as far as I'm concerned! After we got all settled in we decided to go check out the local pub Called Ægir Brewery where they brew their own beers. The building was very cool looking and even cooler inside. Pretty much everything was wood including the tables and chairs and also had a huge circle bar right as u walked in. We decided to try the flight of beer so we could get a good feel for them all. We found a leather couch in the corner with cow skin blankets and enjoyed our beer and relaxed. Tomorrow checking out the area of Flåm.
